The Little Red School House daycare and nursery school uses a literacy and theme based curriculum that allows for open-ended learning through a variety of exploration and discovery experiences that gives children an opportunity to express themselves and understand their world. Every day activities are designed to use all areas of development: cognitive, social-emotional, fine motor, speech and language.
Every day activities include:
- Circle time - Discussing themes and units, listening to stories and learning songs and finger plays.
- Movement - coordination and movement activities to develop fine and gross motor skills.
- Art - Creative expression and fine motor skill development through use of a variety of materials, focusing on the process not the product to encourage individual expression.
- Free Play - Through free play children develop a sense of self by making choices based on their individual interests, while learning to share, wait for a turn, listen and follow directions.
- Group activities - social development and group interaction
- Outside Play - Helps large muscle development and coordination.
- Meal/snack times - social development
